Josef Chomyn

Head of the research team (CZ.NIC Labs)

As the head of the CZ.NIC Laboratories, Josef Chomyn is responsible for a team engaged in the development and research of Internet technologies and securit, as well as other generally beneficial projects, for example in the field of education.

He graduated in Computer Science, specialising in networks and operating systems, at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague. He worked in technical and management positions at Internet providers and telecommunication companies. For many years, he served in the management of the Czech neutral interconnection node NIX.CZ, first as a member of the board of directors, later as its chairman. Between 2017 and 2022, he was a member of the Council of the Czech Telecommunications Authority.

He spends his free time on climbing walls. He is also a certified climbing instructor and coach. He also enjoys spending time in the mountains, traveling, geocaching and cooking. Josef speaks fluent English.
