Domain Name System Operations, Analysis, and Research Center (DNS-OARC) has elected Ondřej Filip, executive director of the CZ.NIC Association, to its board of directors.
Prague, 25 October 2012 – For the second time in a row, the Domain Name System Operations, Analysis, and Research Center (DNS-OARC) has elected Ondřej Filip, executive director of the CZ.NIC Association, to its board of directors. The non-profit DNS-OARC organisation brings together key companies in research, development and implementation of Internet technologies. It is also a platform for the exchange of information and coordination of responses to security threats. In his two-year term as one of the six board members, Ondřej Filip wishes to primarily focus on improving the member base of DNS-OARC and extending its activities directed towards the association’s members as well as the broader Internet community. The positions of all members of the board are honorary and are not paid.
“In my work for the DNS-OARC board, I drew from the valuable experience of my everyday working environment. As one of the most active members of DNS-OARC, our Association actively cooperates in the development of important technological solutions and helps improve the organisation’s reputation,” said Ondřej Filip, executive director of the CZ.NIC Association. “In recent years, my colleagues on the DNS-OARC board and I launched a transformation of the organisation and prepared plans for its further development; among other things, we also hired a new director. Now we want to focus on the implementation of this plan, continuing with the changes we have already started.”
The DNS-OARC association was founded in 2008 with the aim of facilitating the exchange of experience and opinion between major operators of the DNS system, providers of Internet services, top-level domain administrators, maintainers of root servers, security experts, registrars, developers and researchers. Among other activities, the association produces analyses and statistics, organises educational events and provides services and tools for resolving technological issues and reducing security risks. Members include Google, Microsoft, Comcast, Cisco, VeriSign and ICANN.
