The mojeID Service Has 100,000 Users

Not only the number of mojeID users keep growing; there are also increasingly more websites supporting its login system.

Prague, 15 November 2012 – The mojeID service, allowing secure login to various web services with a single universal combination of user name and password, has registered the 100,000th user since its launch on 26 October 2010. Not only the number of mojeID users keep growing; there are also increasingly more websites supporting its login system. The mojeID service, free of charge for end users, is operated by the maintainer of the Czech national domain, the CZ.NIC Association. The main advantages of the system are simple registration and login, verified contact details of its users and security of stored data.

“The stable growth of its user base confirms that mojeID is becoming increasingly popular on the Czech internet. We will keep developing the service to ensure it brings convenience and interesting features to its users and operators. Our goal is to make mojeID a standard option for logging in to web services on the Czech internet,” says the Executive Director of the CZ.NIC Association Ondřej Filip. “Our original plan was to gain 100,000 mojeID users in three years. As this particular milestone was passed yesterday, we can now proudly announce that we managed the goal almost a year earlier.”

Logins via mojeID significantly improve user convenience in the on-line environment. To access participating websites, users only need a single combination of name and password, eliminating the probability of typos and, more importantly, complications with lost data.

The mojeID service also provides many benefits to both operators and customers of e-shops. For new customers, the system automatically fills out and manages contact details, skipping any tedious registrations, and eliminates the risk of erroneous or fraudulent orders. It can also serve as an efficient age verification tool, e.g. for purchases of alcoholic beverages. It is the only service on the Czech market providing verified contact data that is run by a respected service provider who can guarantee the security of stored information.

Implementing mojeID isn’t difficult and does not carry any significant costs. For e-shops based on open-source solutions such as PrestaShop, Drupal or Joomla, implementation modules developed directly by the mojeID team are available. The current list of modules is available at www.mojeid.cz.

In addition to almost seven thousand e-shops, mojeID is also used by the Mladá fronta and Internet Info news sites, the Úschovna.cz file sharing service, the Líbímseti.cz social web, Volný.cz freemail, the popular VotočVohoz.cz, Jízdomat.cz and more.

“Community services such as Jízdomat.cz or VotočVohoz.cz, emphasising user trustworthiness, are particularly promising areas for further development of mojeID. Unauthorised users wanting to enter such community projects will find it almost impossible to do so without authorisation – verified identity makes it easier to overcome initial barriers related to joining a community. The mojeID system reinforces the importance of trustworthiness of internet users, which is one of the key aspects of the service,” adds Ondřej Písek, Marketing Director of the CZ.NIC Association.
