CZ.NIC Association strengthens its management: Bedřich Košata became the head of CZ.NIC Labs
Ondřej Surý, the co-founder and the previous head of CZ.NIC Labs, will become a Technical Fellow addressing key projects, which include primarily the Knot DNS server.
Prague, September 23, 2015 - In mid-September the management team of the CZ.NIC Association — in its research and development branch — was extended. The newly appointed Head of the Laboratory of CZ.NIC and therefore a Management member of the Czech national domain administrator is Bedřich Košata, who had been leading the Turris security research project. Ondřej Surý, the co-founder and the previous head of CZ.NIC Labs, will become a Technical Fellow addressing key projects, which include primarily the Knot DNS server. The Turris team will be now led by Martin Strbačka, who co-founded this security research project together with Bedřich Košata.
”Changes in our research and development team are mainly related to its further development. Ondřej Surý has been working intensely on the Knot DNS server. This project keeps expanding, as evidenced e.g. by its recent deployment to the Prague L root server. Bedřich Košata has been cooperating on the launch of the Turris project, which is now maintained by a large team. In this sense, his appointment as the Head of the laboratories is not a big surprise. Bedřich Košata will not only be responsible for the management of research projects, but also their strategic development,” said Ondřej Filip, CEO of the CZ.NIC Association.
CZ.NIC Labs were created in 2009. Beside the Knot DNS server, the major projects addressed by the researchers and developers of this department also include the BIRD routing daemon, the Datovka or iDatovka applications and the already mentioned Turris security project.
