Jaromír Novák takes on relations of CZ.NIC with the public administration

His main duties will include monitoring changes in legislation concerning the CZ.NIC Association, communication with administration bodies of the state, local governments and the European Union and the search for other possibilities of cooperation with institutions in this sector.

Jaromír Novák, who last served as Chairman of the Council of the Czech Telecommunication Office (CTO), joined the managerial ranks of the Czech national domain administrator. Jaromír Novák joins CZ.NIC in position of Partner for Relations with Public Administration and his main duties will include monitoring changes in legislation concerning the CZ.NIC Association, communication with administration bodies of the state, local governments and the European Union and the search for other possibilities of cooperation with institutions in this sector.

“I am very happy to cooperate with the CZ.NIC team. To me, for a long time this organization has been a symbol of professionalism, innovation and good ideas associated with domains and internet technologies. As Chairman of the CTO Council, for many years I have met with important representatives of international telecommunications authorities and I was proud to hear from colleagues working with the top European regulators how envious they were of our Turris routers or activities related to the mojeID service. It is a great pity that the Czech state is not yet able to make more use of the potential of Czech companies and associations such as CZ.NIC or NIX.CZ. I believe that this will change in the future, also due to the current pandemic crisis, and that I can contribute to this change,” Jaromír Novák said on the occasion of his joining CZ.NIC.

“Jaromír Novák is one of the few experts in this country who knows in detail the relevant telecommunications legislation, while at the same time being well acquainted with the topics related to the Internet and its technologies. Therefore, when the possibility of cooperation came along, I did not hesitate and approached Jaromír Novák with an offer of work for our association. Jaromír Novák has a wealth of experience gained during his time in the state administration, especially as Chairman of the CTO Council, the position he held until the end of January this year,” said Ondřej Filip, CEO of CZ.NIC, on the occasion of appointment of Jaromír Novák.

Jaromír Novák (*1979) graduated from the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University in Brno and the Faculty of Information Management at the University of Hradec Králové. In 2005, he joined the Ministry of Informatics (Department of Electronic Communications), and after it was abolished he was transferred to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. There, he held the position of Head of the Department of Electronic Communications and then Head of the Section of Digital Economy. In the autumn of 2012, he was appointed by the Government of the Czech Republic as a member of the Czech Telecommunication Office Council, where he worked until May of the following year, when he became Chairman of the CTO Council. Jaromír Novák resigned as Chairman and member of the CTO Council in January 2020.
