CZ.NIC received accreditation to manage a qualified electronic identification system from the MoI CR
Users of the mojeID service, operated by the CZ.NIC Association, are now one step closer to accessing electronic services operated by the government. Users of the mojeID service, operated by the CZ.NIC Association, are now one step closer to accessing electronic services operated by the government. The administrator of the Czech national domain has obtained accreditation from the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, which will enable it to connect to the so-called NIA system. It mediates electronic identification for public sector services. Connecting the mojeID service to the NIA system opens up cooperation with other Internet service providers requiring a higher degree of security. They could thus offer their clients a completely new product.
Connecting to the NIA system will mean for mojeID users that if they go through the full authentication process and use the FIDO2 security key as the second authentication element, they will be able to use their mojeID account to access various public services. For example the citizen portal, land register or social security administration system.
“Obtaining accreditation for the mojeID service is the next step in connecting to the NIA system, which will take place in the coming weeks. This connection will bring a number of new possibilities and associated benefits to Internet users, but also to electronic service providers. MojeID is now mainly used by e-shops or electronic media. In the future, other entities could join them, which would offer their clients not only safe and convenient access to their services, but also to e-government services,” said Ondřej Filip, CEO of CZ.NIC.
The mojeID service has a ten-year history. It currently registers more than 600,000 accounts, with which users log in to hundreds of online services of participating providers. These numbers rank mojeID among the leading and respected electronic identities in the Czech Republic.
Additional information related to the connection to the NIA system will be communicated by the Association in the coming weeks. More details about the mojeID service are available at mojeID.
