The #martyisdead series has become the first Czech television project to win the prestigious International Television Emmy Award (short series category). This victory, which is in the international context comparable to the American Oscars, was announced late yesterday afternoon, at the 48th Annual International Emmy Awards ceremony in New York. CZ.NIC also participated in the creation of the #martyisdead series as a co-producer, through its Safely on the Net project.

“For CZ.NIC, this award is a commendation for our long-term activities in the field of Internet security and related education. Our main goal in this project was to draw attention to the threat of cyberbullying and the risks that users, especially younger ones, may encounter on the Internet. We are very happy that the #martyisdead series has met with such success and we believe that this form of publicity will also help to raise awareness of topics that are directly related to the downsides of communication on the Internet,” said Ondřej Filip, the CEO of the CZ.NIC Association that develops the Safe on the Net project.

Other successes of the #martyisdead series include a nomination in the poll Crystal Magnifier 2020 – Czech Internet Award, in which it is competing in the category of best online video. Last year, #martyisdead became a success at the Serial Killer Festival, where it won the award for the best Central and Eastern European web series. The series also had success at the international festivals SerienCamp, Austin Film Festival, Marseille Web Fest or London Lift-Off Film Festival 2020.

Episodes of the series, as well as other information on the topic of cyberbullying, can be found on the Safe on the Net project website.
