Safer purchases on the Internet thank to DNSSEC, from now on at Kosmas

In particular online shops, banks and mass media should be concerned about whether their data in the Internet are safe.

Prague, 17 March - Online purchases at www.kosmas.cz, one of the largest Internet bookstores in the Czech Republic, are now safer. Starting today, Kosmas' Internet domain is secured by the DNSSEC technology, which protects it from data abuse in the Domain Name System (DNS) and from subsequent displaying of phishing or fraudulent websites. All providers of Internet services who strive for a maximum protection of their date should adopt the DNSSEC technology.
“We are aware of the importance of security, in particular for online purchases. This is why we decided to employ the DNSSEC technology for our key domain. This new service will considerably reduce the risk of password and credit card number theft during online purchases,” says Jan Vávra, infrastructure administrator at Kosmas. “The introduction of DNSSEC for the kosmas.cz domain was neither difficult nor demanding in terms of time. Thank to Active 24, our registrator, which offers this service to its clients, DNSSEC could be introduced in a short period of time."
The CZ.NIC association, the administrator of the top-level domain .cz, started using DNSSEC for commercial purposes last September. As of now, DNSSEC protects 623 domains in the Czech Republic.
“The introduction of DNSSEC is of importance for all people active in the Internet, in particular for providers of internet services and for end users. Kosmas is one of the first companies to protect its clients this way. They will certainly appreciate this service. Now they can really trust the party they are sending their money for the goods they ordered on the Internet,” says Ondřej Filip, Executive Director of CZ.NIC. “End users should care whether their internet connection providers support this service and they should demand its introduction. At www.dnssec.cz, all interested individuals can test whether or not they are protected when they access the Internet."
