CZ.NIC is active in promoting DNSSEC all over the world - it joined the DNSSEC Industry Coalition
The goal of the DNSSEC Industry Coalition is to adopt a unified approach in promoting and implementing DNSSEC for all potential users.
Prague, 14 May - Effective today, CZ.NIC, the administrator of the Czech top-level domain, is a member of an organization that strives to promote the DNSSEC security technology globally. The goal of the DNSSEC Industry Coalition, which unites specialists from all continents, is to adopt a unified approach in promoting and implementing DNSSEC for all potential users including domain registers (generic and in particular national ones). The Czech Republic is one of six countries globally that use the DNSSEC security technology for their national domain.
“We are glad that there is an organization helping to raise awareness of DNSSEC and to put this technology into practice. As its member, we would like to contribute to the creation of a unified visual identity related to this technology. Furthermore, we plan to embark on solving technical problems and obstacles that hamper the introduction of DNSSEC. For example, we intend to prepare mechanisms for testing of modems or other hardware equipment and find out whether the owner is protected from potential attacks,” said Ondřej Filip, CZ.NIC CEO.
Upon its entry in the DNSSEC Industry Coalition, CZ.NIC became a member of two working groups as well. The first of them (Outreach Working Group) contacts various industry associations that have a vested interest in Internet security, for example banking associations or online payments associations. The second working group (Tools & Applications Working Group) analyses various tools and applications that are currently available for the implementation of DNSSEC.
Currently, the DNSSEC technology protects XY .CZ domains. For example, Kosmas.cz, which is one of the major Czech internet bookstores, Lidovky.cz, a news server, or the company Internet Info rely on it to protect themselves as well as their customers.
