Test the new beta version of PostgreSQL in the CZ.NIC Laboratories
After Japan and the United States, the Czech Republic is only the third country where this testing marathon will take place.
Prague, 5 May - This year, like every other, the community of PostgreSQL users will take part in testing the planned version of this database. In 2010, a one-day testing marathon has been added to the traditional non-organized testing format, during which the database will be subjected to intensive trial operations. After Japan and the United States, the Czech Republic is only the third country where this testing marathon will take place. The organizers of the public testing are the CZ.NIC Association, the administrator of the Czech national domain, and the Association of Czech and Slovak PostgreSQL Users (www.cspug.cz). Supporters of PostgreSQL will meet on Friday 21 May at 7pm at the premises of the CZ.NIC Academy training centre. The professional sponsor and testing guide will be Pavel Stěhule from the CZ.NIC Laboratories, who has worked on PostgreSQL issues for several years already.
“Testing will be done on the participants own computers, which they will bring with them. We will start testing the new beta version of PostgreSQL on Friday at 7pm and finish around Saturday morning. Everyone who signs up for this project will get instructions by email upon signing up, with network configuration requests, so they are prepared for work with the beta version of PostgreSQL in advance,” said Pavel Stěhule from the CZ.NIC Association.
“Public testing of the beta version of the PostgreSQL system falls precisely into the activities that we would also like to see in the future at our CZ.NIC Academy. The idea of classrooms equipped with the most modern facilities, alongside organizing professional training, is also support for internet projects, which serve to develop knowledge about current or emerging projects from the internet world and its technologies,” added Ondřej Filip, Executive Director of the CZ.NIC association.
Anyone interested in the public testing can make a binding application by 14 May by e-mailing pavel.stehule@nic.cz. In response to this registration they will receive a confirmation of their registration and requests relating to the testing itself. The number of testers is limited; only the first 15 applicants to sign up may take part.
