There are already 700,000 .CZ domains, with the longest one being 63 characters long
According to CZ.NIC statistics, men dominate among domain holders with an 87% share, while businesses and legal entities have a 52% share.
Prague, 4 August - The CZ.NIC Association, administrator of the .CZ national domain, registered domain number 700,000 on Wednesday 4 August at 10:22 a.m. The average monthly increase in the number of .CZ domains has therefore remained around 10,000. According to CZ.NIC statistics, men dominate among domain holders with an 87% share, while businesses and legal entities have a 52% share. Domain names most often contain eight characters; the longest Czech domain name has 63.
“From the beginning of 2006 until the migration to FRED, the new registration system, in October 2007, the monthly number of domains registered was around 5,000. Since October 2007, this number has practically doubled. We do not expect this trend, which has lasted for almost three years, to change in the coming months,” said Ondřej Filip, CEO of the CZ.NIC Association.
Since the registration of 600,000 domains last October, the number of domains secured using the DNSSEC technology has also increased significantly. Primarily thanks to the initiative of the two large registrars in introducing this measure, more then 100,000 domains are now protected against DNS attacks, which most often aim to falsify the contents of a website or steal sensitive user data for various online services.
