CZ.NIC Joins the CyberINTEL-X Project Intended to Strengthen Cybersecurity in Europe

The CZ.NIC Association, the Czech national domain administrator, has joined the international consortium of the CyberINTEL-X project, which aims to strengthen Europe’s capabilities in the field of operational cybersecurity, particularly within Security Operations Centers (SOCs) and CSIRT teams. The project was selected by the European Cybersecurity Competence Center (ECCC) under the Horizon Europe program and is now entering the grant agreement preparation phase.

CyberINTEL-X focuses on the development and deployment of advanced technologies for real-time threat detection and analysis, automated incident response, and support for corrective measures. The project also includes the creation of a cross-border and cross-sectoral framework for cyber crisis management, including decision-making support and shared situational awareness.

For CZ.NIC, participation in the project is particularly important because it brings together research, practical deployment, and international cooperation between key European institutions, public administration, academia, and technical partners. The project aims to improve the sharing of information on cyber threats, the development of digital twins for threat simulation, and capacity building across the European cybersecurity ecosystem.

“Participation in the CyberINTEL-X project is an opportunity for the CZ.NIC Association to make an active contribution to the development of tools and procedures that can improve preparedness for cyber incidents and cooperation among European partners. In this area, strong international cooperation is vital,” said Pavel Bašta, security analyst at CZ.NIC and head of the CSIRT.CZ and CZ.NIC-CSIRT security teams.

The CyberINTEL-X project is one of four successful proposals selected from a total of 64 projects submitted under the HORIZON-CL3-2025-02-CS-ECCC-02 call. In the evaluation process, it received an excellent score of 14.50 out of 15 points. The project is expected to take 36 months to implement. In addition to the CZ.NIC Association, it involves 22 other partner organizations from 12 countries.

The consortium is coordinated by the Romanian organization I-ENERGYLINK. In addition to the CZ.NIC association, the project also involves organizations from Greece, Cyprus, Romania, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Estonia, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Moldova, and Croatia.
